“Tell me and I will forget, show me and I may remember; involve me and I will understand.”
The project is an essential part of the Study Hub course. The extended piece of work is linked to the course in Environmental Science, but it gives students the opportunity to choose a topic which is highly relevant to them. Issues such as fashion, business, travel, artificial intelligence, marine biology, air pollution or waste disposal are possible. Students can build, write, make, design, compose, film or produce. The topic is chosen fairly early in the year, so that a suitable mentor can be chosen. it is expected that new skills must be acquired in order to achieve the desired result. Above all, participants are facilitated in working towards an outcome they can be proud of.
Aspiring to excellence is considered an invaluable lesson.
“Rhetoric is the art of ruling the minds of men.”
The presentation is the culmination of the year, a celebration of achievement. All who have been involved will be invited to celebrate the success of each student. Throughout the year, workshops on public speaking are held and mentors guide students towards reaching their potential, enabling them to skillfully present the topic they have chosen and care about. Monthly debating sessions gradually and gently build confidence in discussing and answering questions. The ability to eleoquently and clearly express opinions is highly valued.
A prize will be awarded for the best presentation and project. Of course, parents are welcome to attend the presentation evening.
