Why Brighton is ideal for groups

For a short, intensive stay, ブライトン offers everything students need — without the stress of the capital. Often described as “London by the sea”, Brighton is lively, international, and creative, yet compact, safe, and easy to get around. Students spend less time commuting and more time speaking English, socialising, and enjoying the city.

The seaside setting makes a real difference. Being by the sea creates a relaxed atmosphere where young people settle quickly and gain confidence, while the city’s strong student culture gives Brighton an open, welcoming feel.

London is still very close:

Direct train to central London: around 1 hour
From Gatwick Airport: approx. 30 minutes
From Heathrow Airport: approx. 1 hour 45 minutes

This means students can enjoy a full day in London, then return to the calmer, more student-friendly environment of Brighton.

In short: Brighton offers the energy of London, the calm of the coast, and the perfect setting for a successful two-week language experience.

Participants: Group size can be between 6 and 20 students.

Leaders: 1 leader per group is included.

Accommodation: Residence/hostel/small group shared house or host family.

Teaching: We teach English and projects at Brighton House.

Other groups: There will usually only be your group at Brighton House as we like to adapt our packages to suit the group.

Lessons: 20 x 45 minutes per week.

Activities: 1 full day in London, 1 full day in another city, afternoon activities per 2 weeks.

Progress reports: Provided at the end of each week.

Publicity: Professional photos of each group available at the end of the stay.

Cost: Available from SEE within 24 hours.

Accommodation

Host families

Share house

Working with host families involves students coming to school from different areas. In our experience, this can be a challenge, especially for young people who are not used to taking public transport alone. Also, students compare host families and comparison can be the thief of joy. We recommend booking a private house (up to 10 students, single gender) with one leader supervising. Meals can be at Brighton House or at the accommodation. Of course, packed lunches are provided for day trips. Hostels or dormitories are a viable alternative if houses are not available. The price for all options is the same. Please note that students can be in double, triple and quadruple rooms.

Teaching

It wouldn’t make sense for students to come all the way to England and then sit in classrooms in the same way as they would in their home country. Our teachers use work stations around our centre to help them prepare projects and presentations on Brighton, England, Europe, food, music, celebrities, sport, arts, literature and drama. We also offer entertaining and encouraging sessions on pronunciation because we know how significant confidence in this area is. Our teachers are employed full-time, year round by SEE.

All classes take place at ブライトンハウス, a welcoming space that becomes a true home from home for our young people.

Tourism and entertainment

Of course, we take our young guests to London for a day, usually on the first weekend. A second day trip is also included, and we take group leaders’ preferences into account — this could be a fun day in Oxford or something more local, if preferred. These days out can be purely to explore and enjoy the city, or they can be more academic in focus, with time set aside to complete a project, depending on the group’s aims.

We include a range of afternoon activities such as sports, treasure hunts, and films, and we always add a classic afternoon tea experience to remember.

Results

At SEE, we highly value accounbtability. No matter whether parents or governments are paying for student travel, as an agency and as a caring person, we imagine you want what you offer to show positive results. Too often the impact of language travel is only measured in whether the participants were happy or if there were complaints. We provide qualified reports on student progress as well as videos and photos of activities. It is essential to hear student voices on what they have experienced, to share the adventure with those who have paid, but also to keep learning and improving as an organisation. We understand the value of celebrating success and creating lasting memories to promote future aspirations for the individuals as well as the environments they return to.

We have learned what these brave young people need and how they can most benefit from the incredible opportunity they have been given. We want to do our part in contributing to changing lives and we have worked hard to build partnerships with organisations who share our philosophy.
